Curved channels with constant cross sections may support trapped surface waves

چکیده
Abstract Curved channels with constant cross sections are constructed which support a trapped surface wave. Since corresponding eigenvalues embedded in the continuous spectrum of water wave problem and therefore possess natural instability, construction procedure requires “fine-tuning” several parameters (small) curvature channel as well geometrical restrictions on section. In particular, mirror symmetry section respect to vertical axis disrupts procedure, but examples suitable non-symmetric provided.

Surface Rendering for Multi-axial Cross Sections
This study presents, for the first time, an automatic algorithm for surface rendering of a volume consisting of multi-axial cross sections. In computer graphics, although a medical volume is usually considered to consist of sequential parallel cross sections, multi-axial parallel sections that constitute a multi-axial volume have also been frequently used in recent clinical cases. Herein, a mul...
متن کاملTemplate-based surface reconstruction from cross-sections
In this work we explore a new approach to solving the problem of surface reconstruction from cross-section curves. Existing reconstruction methods focus on producing smooth interpolations and may require a large number of crosssections to recreate feature-rich objects. In the context of medical image segmentation, we make the observation that anatomical structures usually share a common overall...
متن کاملNonlinear surface waves in arrays of curved waveguides
We study both theoretically and experimentally the nonlinear surface waves at the edge of curved waveguide arrays with a surface defect. We show that the nonlinear coupling between different linear modes supported by the array can lead to beam switching to different output waveguides with increasing of the nonlinearity strength. Our experimental observations are in good agreement with the numer...
متن کاملStress Waves in a Generalized Thermo Elastic Polygonal Plate of Inner and Outer Cross Sections
The stress wave propagation in a generalized thermoelastic polygonal plate of inner and outer cross sections is studied using the Fourier expansion collocation method. The wave equation of motion based on two-dimensional theory of elasticity is applied under the plane strain assumption of generalized thermoelastic plate of polygonal shape, composed of homogeneous isotropic material. The freque...
متن کاملElectron collisions with laser cooled and trapped metastable helium atoms: total scattering cross sections.
Absolute measurements of total scattering cross sections for low energy (5-70 eV) electrons by metastable helium (2(3)S) atoms are presented. The measurements are performed using a magneto-optical trap which is loaded from a laser-cooled, bright beam of slow He(2(3)S) atoms. The data are compared with predictions from convergent close coupling and R matrix with pseudostate calculations, and we ...
